Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She served on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. The reporting she did included plenty of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. She traveled extensively along with President Reagan during summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
