The initial inspiration came from the shadows that were cast onto grass. After a few weeks she devised a process which did not render the chosen object on canvas as an image that was flat. When objects live or perishable, such as humans and fruits that they transform into a picture of them. Alexa's style of painting is one of ephemeral, and only photographs of her work survive. Photographs and painting are coordinated to create a flat two-dimensional surface that is trompe-l'oeil. Certain places the three-dimensional space can be seen, for example, close to the eyes or in the hair. Meade is also able to integrate her painted models within the space of 3D that surrounds the models. Their interaction as well as the world they created is possible. The result is a blurring of the lines between painting, photography and installation.
